Jenga
Nintendo DS, Wii

The popular party block game of skill and precision is now here in digital form and sees players pitted against human or AI opponents in a bid to keep the tower standing.

Jenga features many environments and themes, adding new dimensions, twists and fantasy elements to the brand that the traditional version can't offer.

The Wii's remote and Nunchuk, and the DS's touch screen, offer the perfect opportunities for the video game version of Jenga, and we have some pretty special enhancements included.

People

A large part of the success of the studio is attributed to the people involved. In what is a very competitive industry, where attracting and retaining staff can prove to be difficult, our previous experience within Acclaim Studios has proved that we have what it takes to run a professional, creative, and above all, cost-effective studio with a great working environment and an atmosphere that is conducive to a very low turnover of staff.

We have an excellent team in place, with years of industry experience. We are confident that this can be expanded rapidly as projects are signed. We have excellent links with the local University, which runs several games specific courses, and is an excellent resource pool. We also have every confidence that we can attract top industry talent.

Management

Good, experienced management is the key to the running of this studio. The initial management team, and their past experiences are highlighted below. As we grow, we will gradually introduce an expanded management structure, though we are all too aware that the balance has to be just right, and we will be very selective about who we put in these positions.

Darren Falcus - Managing Director

Darren, along with brother, Jason, started programming and designing video games in 1981, and had several of these published in the UK over the next five years. In 1988, after recognising the market potential, and the way that games were going to have to be developed in the future, he set up a small development company, Optimus Software Ltd.

By 1993, Darren's role had changed and involved the day-to-day running of the company. This was when Optimus was acquired by Iguana Entertainment, and became Iguana UK.

Over the next three years, Darren was involved in setting up an organizational structure and relocating Iguana to a plush, new building overlooking the River Tees. Darren was also involved in accounting, equipment purchasing, network installation, recruitment, project management, scheduling and initiating policies and procedures. A large amount of his time was been spent building up Iguana UK (now Acclaim Studios Teesside) to a high of over seventy people, and helping to recruit for the U.S. studio.

Darren is currently responsible for the day-to-day running of Atomic Planet, and providing the vision for the future direction. He is also a current board director of TIGA.

Jason Falcus - Joint MD / Operations Director

Jason started programming and designing video games in 1981, and in 1988 set up Optimus Software with his brother, Darren. At Iguana, Jason programmed NBA JAM and NBA JAM TE on the Super Nintendo, as well as overseeing all other versions.

His role, like that of his brother, gradually evolved, tending more towards the management side of things, including project management, technical management, and product development. During his time at Acclaim Studios Teesside, Jason was also required to assist in a hands-on programming role from time to time.

In October 1995, with all of Acclaim Studios Teesside's key personnel in place, Jason became Director of Product Development; as such he continued to assist in setting standards and procedures for the various departments, specifically the Technical Department and coordinating the company's Project Managers.

Jason is currently responsible for planning and overseeing all products in development at Atomic Planet. This will also involve hands-on involvement in areas such as programming and project management.

Both Darren and Jason are investors and directors of Simian Services Limited and Simian Production Audio Motion Limited.
